Selective colleges recalculate every applicant's GPA using their own formula, usually unweighted. A 3.8 unweighted from a rigorous school beats a 4.5 weighted from an easier one. Course rigor matters as much as the number.
Most colleges use unweighted (4.0 scale) but consider course rigor separately. Some scholarships use weighted GPA. Report both.
